Technical Workshop Methanol Plant

Flexibility Options of Thermal Waste Treatment Plants due to grid-dependent CO2-Utilization

Successful workshop on the occasion of the World Methanol Conference

BSE and its team consisting of the companies Aker Solutions, BASF, McPhy and Sulzer Chemtech have been very successful in the training workshop "Small-Scale Methanol Plants" at the 37th World Methanol Conference ( (Berlin) in favor of the participants. The positive feedback was overwhelming. At this point, we would like to thank Mr. Gregory Dolan (CEO of the Methanol Institute), who has chaired the event.

With 40 international guests, we were able to discuss what constitutes the technique of small-scale methanol production, how and on which existing plants the technology with the greatest added value for electricity and / or CO2 sources fits. The composition of the guests ranged from biofuel producers, refinery operators to waste treatment plants and steel producers. But also operators of paper and pulp mills have seized the opportunity to approach the topic of producing a biofuel from black liquor using the CO2-to-methanol technology. Especially in this case, the approach of the multi-output plant becomes clear by using large quantities of self-generated chemical additives such as oxygen for their own production.

As part of the diverse network opportunities in a relaxed society, we have made an exchange of experience possible and found interesting approaches for the use of the technologies.
